afternoon guy's/gal's, i had a remington 742 3006 semi-auto rifle on
layaway.
this will be a long story.
one day i ask my good friend across the street if he had any 3006 ammo that
he wanted to trade for some 22lr ammo, he said "SURE"
as i was at his home, he had shown me his remington 760 3006 adl pump
carbine rifle. 18 1/2" barrel. BOY i wanted that rifle!
so, i got to thinking about trading my s&w lady smith 357mag revolver for his rifle.
the other day he was out front of his home, i wrote him a note about doing any
trading for his 760 rifle. "to my amazement, he said YES!" HOT DIGGY DOG..
his 760 pump rifle is in very good shape, he only fired-off about 10 rounds.
I'M A HAPPY CAMPER..
so, this morning i had gone to the pawnshop where the remington 742 rifle was
on layaway and cancell the layaway. i got back $3.00, BUTT who cares.
i got me a 760 3006 pump carbine rifle. i can always buy another revolver down the road..
now i got 6 boxes of 150grain ammo, it came with a all-pro 3x-9x32 scope.
i will need a better scope.. here's the pictures of the 760..

That is one bad rifle. Could that be the best whitetail rifle?
whitetail, bear, moose, wild hog carbine rifle.
it is made in feb/82
from 1960-1982 there were 42,236 760's carbine made.
hope to get her at the gun range soon..

You are going to replace the scope? I would be getting rid of the "see thru" rings unless you like nostalga. My father loved those things.

I love mine. Killed my first deer with it, and many more.

It was my step father's rifle. I was using it first day of PA buck season many years ago. I told him I'd have my tag filled by noon and he said "If you do the gun is yours". I was dragging a barely legal spike home by 9:30.

My highschool hunting buddies called it the Gamemasher instead of GameMaster.

Congrats on a nice rifle.
I've seen it in .308, but didn't know the 30-06 came in a carbine. Nice, I like it.

I would consider a Leupold or Vortex scope. Or an old Redfield.

morning everybody, yesterday morning i had time to put on a
swivel stud on my 760 butt stock.
it came out good looking, i have a sling that i will put on it as
soon as i received my new bolt for the front. the bolt has the
swivel part on it.. a hole for the swivel.. next step is another scope.

I have the 7600 version in 30-06. It is my favorite “hunting rifle” in a safe full of hunting rifles. I use mine as my woods rifle and anything 150 yards or less is in bad trouble. I chose not to scope mine and have a Williams WGRS peep sight on the receiver and the standard front bead sight I have filed square and painted white. From a bench with my hot 150 grain hand loads I can keep 3 shots in a two Inch circle. More than accurate enough for any hunting purposes.

They are a joy to carry...especially after removing the scope. If I were to scope it, my 1-4-20 Leupold or 2-7-33 Leupold would have to fight it out to see who would go on top. Cool rifle and glad you found it.

morning everybody, since i had the remington 760 carbine i have a question.
does anybody have a problem with the magazine going in hard.
it seems to me that the mag release tab is hard for me to push.
i'm not a weenie, kind-of the older type guy, can i buy another spring that isn't as strong?
mag release spring, or cut-off alittle so that i can enjoy putting in the mag.
i have to push hard to get the mag seated in good..i had put grease on the mag. any thoughts?
i know that the 760 is kind-of new, only 10 rounds fired out of it.

then i will go to the local pawnshop to sell my battery power drill, extra battery and charger.
will need to sell it to pay for the oversize latch..
maybe i won't have a hard time with the magazine. let's hope...
