EROY, I sure hope that you have better results with the Red Dot than PARD, but I suspect that you will not.
PARD you might want to check the 7.62x39 round and see if you still think of it as a weenie round. I know that I sure do not. I have great respect for it. The recoil forces of the bolt in an SKS are pretty sudden and seem to break lesser scopes/Red Dot sights.

Good luck on that Aimpoint lasting, and I hope you like it. If it doesn't hold up, get yourself a Bushnell Trophy 1x28. I got it as a factory refurbished model for $69. Has 4 different reticles to choose from. I put it on a Rem 870 20ga and it's been great so far. A bit more recoil than a little 30-30 will give.

Wow, Had no idea they were that bad. Gets five stars at Midway. I can still cancel my order since it was backordered. Had the bushnel trophy. Dot kept disappearing, brightness kept changing, and the segmented reticle had a misplaced segment. Seemed like poor quality though very accurate. Now I don't know what to do.

Just revisited the reviews at Midway and in a nutshell they say this thing is bomb proof. Pard, how did yours break? You had the 9000 right?

I've got a Burris Speeddot 135 that has seen 500+rounds of 45-70, many hot ones, and a trip to Africa, with no problems.

Had to laugh at myself wondering who is using Red Dot powder in their Marlin until I read the ist post. ;D
You know, that is exactly what I thought when I read it. Sometimes it pays to put a little more explanation in the heading unless you want to keep folks guessing! ;D

Got the Aimpoint 9000sc and sighted her in today with Federal 170 Powershocks. Works flawlessly. Sighted at 40 yards and 100 yards. At 40 they all were in the bullseye. At 100 yards (2MOA dot) I had a 2 and 1/4 inch group centered on the bullseye. I've got the sight mounted over the receiver in standard fashion. Might get a rail and move it later. High marks for the Aimpoint 9000sc.

I was also interested to read about the red dot powder in the 336...It can be done, as well as Clays, etc.
Semi-auto's are hard on optics, I don't understand it completely, but something about stressing the optics both directions. Hard to believe, but air rifles as well are very hard on optics because of the thrust in a different direction than they were designed for.
Good Luck
