I have an 1895ss and want to replace the recoil pad...the factory pad doesnt seem to have any screws so do I have to cut it off....cut the stock???

Take an awl or some other pointed instrument and poke around the area where you think the screws are likely to be. I suspect that the rubber has closed up over the screws.

There are no marks that could be "closed over holes"....

Sometimes you can not see them, did you use a probe? If you try to cut the stock where it meets the recoil pad you will probably find the screws with your saw blade!furlong222 said:

yep....good point... am committed to the project so I think I'll just cut the rubber off and see what is there....thx wb
