Thank you for all the advice and opinions. I only shoot the 265 Hornady beause when the 444 comes out it is for serious hunting. I have a 1894 44 mag for the fun of and a 375 that I sometimes use for deer but the 444 is the go to rifle when I am after meat.

I'm a huge fan of the Beartooth Recoil Pad which was mentioned earlier. I have one on my Marlin 444.

I also a huge fan of the ShooterPads brand ...... I have one on my Howa .30-06 bolt action

During a range visit a few years ago I fired 100 rds of .444 Marlin, and 100 rds of .30-06. No shoulder discomfort whatsoever at the end of the day.

I have a 1974 1895 45-70 that I have taken to Alaska a couple of times. I took the original wood off and stashed it and replaced it with some Guide Gun wood. I immediately dumped the stock recoil pad for a Limbsaver. My second choice and probably better looking would be the Pachmyr Decellerator.
