Just in case anyone gets stumped on Rifles marked Ranger with no other identifying marks-

Sears/Winchester and Marlin was not the only concern to use Ranger as a marketing "brand name".....

Cooey Machine and Tool Co. of Coburg, Ontario, Canada used the Ranger name as well. It usually appears on rimfire rifles with no other marks except caliber. These rifles most often have a bolt handle that protrudes from the action at a 90 degree angle, with a bit of a curve near the grasping knob- almost dog leg :p

Sears/Winchester and Marlin guns have a model designation roll stamped, Like 102.37 etc. that helps identify it. The cross-reference index list at Numrich's web site is a good place to find out what the Sears/Winchester gun models are.

Other useful reference, http://proofhouse.com/cm/codes_markings.htm
