When unpacking a new set of scope rings that are made in two horizontal "halves", is it OK to mix them up when installing them or should you always keep them matched?

For instance keep the halves front-front and rear-rear? Or the halves, left-side to left side?

It easier to show than describe......

I've always kept them matched front-back and side-side if they're packed so.

Anything I have ever heard or read always said to install them the way they are assembled.

I know my Burris Signature rings stated that the half are required to stay with the lower half it was attached to in the packaging. If they were machined that way keep them as they came.

However; if you are using something like Weaver Quad locks it is not that important.
