I just bought a 917V and have been getting ready to sight it in. I noticed somthing odd. When you go to close the bolt it drops the firing pin at least 3/16" before the trigger grabs the sear. After that it seems like it would fire OK but the sound it makes dropping the firing pin like it does makes a loud "snap" that could be heard a long way.
Question is "Is this normal for Marlin or is it this gun?" It's brand new not fired yet.

My old 17V 17HMR does the same thing,it has never been a problem for me.
Looking at mine ,it looks like an easy fix if you find it bothersome.

Yes,I believe it to be normal.
