Just bought a new 1894PG in 44 magnum and am very pleased with it. However, I noticed that the top rear of the breech bolt doesn't fit smoothly against the receiver when closed. It looks like the breech bolt is a little too long at the top, and sticks a little out the back of the receiver.

It appears to fit perfectly at the bottom. The gun cycles and feeds perfectly. Haven't fired it yet.

Do your guns' breech bolts fit even with the receiver? Is this anything for me to worry about?

Welcome to the forum - I think you'll like it here...

Marlin has done the square bolts that way since the beginning - the bolts have always protruded out of the receiver a little.......Don't know why, but that's just the way they have always done it.

If you use it long enough for it to be redone, then is the time to get the fit and finish machined. Until then try to wear it out.
