Here we go.....our glorious and all knowing Congress is gonna solve this problem....by passing a law.!

Catch....how will this be pegged to being able to own a firearm ? If a service member talks about any problems... ( ..." I am having a hard time finding a good paying job..." )...will that person be categorized as a "risk"...and therefore barred from legally owning a firearm..??

Watch out for the fine print...!!

So they have a plan to prevent suicides. According to a very fine course I once attended on suicides, you cannot (usually) prevent an intended suicide. The person will begin to get his affairs in order, dispose of property, usually by giving it to friends and relatives, and then will pick a time and place where they will not be interupted. What they need to do is to instruct the officers and senior NCOs in what to look for and then what corrective actions to take. The "accidental suicides" where a person takes too many sleeping pills in order to get to sleep and the attention getter suicides where a person does something like slitting their wrist, intending to make people think they intend to kill themselves and do too good a job of it can frequently be detected in advance by such things as the person talking about suicide and about killing themselves can also be treated by observing symptoms. The intentional suicide person will rarely, if ever, mention that they plan to do it. They will frequently appear cheerful and happy "just before". Train the NCOs and company grade officers what to look for and what to do about it.

That sounds like a sensible and practical way to deal with the problem.

So...why do I sense something sinister about this proposed law....:( .

I guess they feel you need a psych eval if you willingly sign up to serve in Obama's army!

At this point in time, with all the news about what they are doin' to veterans, you'd almost have to be considered a little "off" to enlist (no disrespect meant/intended)...cuz it's only gonna get worse IMO! The government has been crappin' on our veterans for years, but what they're doin' now should be CRIMINAL!

I suspect that this is just another misguided Commie plot aimed at proving the military are really dangerous "to self and others". It's absolutely BS, would cost a fortune, accomplish nothing positive--and the Republicans had better kill it.

Bush made all returning Vets from theater get evals, Barry said any service folk that get evals loose their gun rights.

Someday, someone will figure out what the new world order is doing, and put a halt to it.

Dont know why they have to make a law, exec orders already cover this
