IF you can find one around here, any vintage, that's a very good price.

Here in the DFW area, that would be a *very* good price (if the rifle is in good shape).

Although, Big 5 stores frequently sell a hardwood-stocked version of the 1894 for $299 new. If the rifle in question is one of those, $275 isn't such a great deal.

I went to look at it today, turns out it was a marlin wannbe ( Win.) The guy I talked to said it was a Marlin.Oh well, I'll keep looking.

I have seen them around here for $200, but $250 to $295 is about normal for around here.

The winchester in .44 makes a good basis for a .445 or .444 as it is a long action. Little bit of smithing for timing and rechambering. Just my two cents if you are inclined.
