I was talking with my local pusher and the 338MX came up, and their supplier had plenty and he could get me for $500 (most likely tax extra). BUt this supplier is also the localrepair shop for Marlin (Paducah shooter Supply) and in the outside chance that there is a problem they can fix it, his words not mine. Should I take this deal and I have had a great relationship with this store?

I used them when I had to send my Marlin back to Remington because of a rough chamber. Good people to work with and you will be able to see the rifle before you complete the deal. I think I would go for it , Lonnie.
