I'll start. I just picked it up yesterday. I just took it all apart cleaned the factory grease out of it lightened the trigger as per Swanys directions and polished it up! 8) It's a 2002 DOM. It looks like someone probably bought it tried it and couldn't handle it. It's like NIB with not a mark on it! ;D

You know, Lever Addict, all this Marlinitis stuff is just nonsense. I can walk away from a Marlin anytime I want. I really can. Really. I can. It's just when you tell me to hold yours for you while you go to the boys room, and I'm left to wander around the gun show with it, holding it, fondling it, and then to have 2 guys come up to me and offer to buy it off me right then and there, that it becomes a little much. Then to have you take me over to this Marlin display and show me a gun just like yours, mint, but in blue with walnut, that things just go over the top. I am, after all, human, with weaknesses. I'm strong, and determined. I did say to you I was not going to buy a gun. And I was tempted by some beauties that I showed you. But no, you had to stick that blue/walnut ported GG beauty in my hands didn't you? Well, that's more than I can take. Ah well, I still think I can walk away from a Marlin. Unless it's the right one. Thanks buddy. Really it is a beauty, and it balances beautifully with the scope on it. Now, to sight it in, get a trigger job (crisp, but a little heavy), maybe a Decelerator or a Simms pad, work up some loads (hope to get good groups - my SDG is a half-incher at a hundred yds.), and then make some meat. You are a bad influence, my friend. You know I'm sick, and weak. Marlinitis... bah!

No longer mine, but a few years back I had a 1895G setup with XS sights and scout mount that I liked a lot. I've always been a fan of the ported models:

Brother Dalgo glad to have been of service! You are a sick twisted shell of a man much like myself! ;D It didn't take much to twist your arm heck I never even touched your arm! ;D Thats why I like hangin with you buddy we are so much alike. We'll get out and sight those ported babies next week! I hope it's not crowded at the range, but if it is a few shots from the ported guns and well have the place to ourselves! ;) Well maybe we'll get thrown out! ::)

Matt very nice Guide Gun you shouldn't have let it go. I also let my first one go. My nephew is the new prowd owner. I remember the first time he shot it. He was in love and had to have one. Yes he is sick too, but at such a young age! Marlinitis can get anyone! It doesn't matter the sex, race or religion. It can take a healthy person and turn them into a weak shell of a man like myself! I love it! Like I told Dalgo on the way home from the gun show it's like a high and I want it over and over. Hello my name is Lever Addict and I have Marlinitis! ;D

Sometimes you do what you gotta do. I do however have a very nice non ported model that has just recently made its way to my hands.

This one has a very nice thinned forearm and soon will be sporting a new cowboy style buttstock thanks to our good friend Eli Chaps! Of course it is wearing XS sights as well>

Matt I put a cowboy butt on my first GG and thined the forarm. It looks old style cowboy! ;D Are you going to put a recoil pad on it? I put one on mine and a cut down 1895 Cowboy mag tube.

Lou, yours looks almost exactly like the vision I have for mine! I will be putting a grind to fit decelorator pad on it, putting a DRC lever and then getting a mag tube extension done. I can't stress how much that thinned forearm changes the handling of the guide gun to others who haven't handled one.
