**POLL** Walnut or Plastic Stocks on the XT 22TR & TSR???

8523 Views 31 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Jeff56
Marlington says that they have done Polls that says Most of us want Plastic/Composite Stocks on the 981T/Blued Steel and 981TS/Stainless Steel 22 Rifles.

As near as I can figure out,, the 981T and 981TS are being replaced with the XT 22 Series.

The 981T will be the XT22TR and The 981TS will be the XT22TSR.

The New XT 22's will be outfitted with the Pro Fire Adjustable Triggers.

So here's the Poll and Question ~ Do you want a Plastic/Composite Stock with Swivel Studs on These Guns or do You prefer a Walnut Stock with Swivel Studs?

Joe :)

Re: ~POLL ~ Walnut or Plastic Stocks on the XT 22TR & TSR???

Oh boy, you know what we want. Just look at the results so far. :)
Serious? Who would want plastic. I can't stand the black synthetic stocks. To me, even the laminate is questionable but I do realize that there are many folks that like em. The other current (2011) choice in the XT's is "walnut stained" hardwood "EDITED" and one walnut stocked rimfire. This is a case where "if" I ever bought another new Marlin it would be worth the extra cost to me to get black walnut stocks.

P.S., I know we have our own preferences, mine just happens to be American black walnut. Guess I'm spoiled. ;D
Come on Guy's,, Speak your minds,, and send a message to "Marlington".

VOTE!!!

I know that I'm Biased so,, I want to keep my Remarks as Neutral as possible.

I'll let Marlington know about this Poll and I know that from Time To Time,, they do Read this Forum,, although I understand the Fear,, that they have to Participate...

What really Irk's me to no End,, is when they "The MarlingTon Folk's",, continue to tell me something,, that I know,, is just not True. But let the Poll Tell The Tale,, and Convince Me,, whether I'm Right or I'm Wrong,

Please Vote,, It's One of The Few Thing's That We Still can do,, to try and make a difference,

Joe :)

The brain washing of America ...We say Walnut...They hear WE love to see more cheap plastic stocks 'cause they are beautiful! ::) You can almost write off good quality walnut as a stock, plastic is so much cheaper and if it comes out wrong....melt it down and do it again, you ain't doing that with walnut. Mr fixit
I think Remington might have filters that don't let me emails through, I've bugged them so much recently, but I'm going to send links to this occasionally as well.

1895Gunner, Marlin still catalogs one walnut-stocked version: the XT-22MTW (Magnum, Tube-fed, Walnut, I presume). It's not .22LR as I would've liked, but it is tube-fed (which I like).

You are correct, I looked closer in my new catalog and it is in there, the only one.
Keep Them Votes a coming... ;D

This is Very Interesting,, especially on the Stainless Steel Model!!!

In a few more day's,, we'll Edit the Poll to allow everyone to see the Results.

I want Marlington to see this,, so they can see for themselve's what We want as Consumer's. Maybe it will cause them to "ReThink" what will sell the best,

Joe :)
I think BOTH kind of stocks should be available on all models.
Don't let this poll die out, guys, or Marlin will think that we really DO want only synthetic stocks. Synthetic has its place, but walnut's nicer--plus, walnut-stocked guns hold their value better than most synthetic-stocked ones.

Thanks to Everyone that Voted in This Poll,, and Especially to Marlin XL7 for helping to keep this Poll alive.

I've Edited the Poll,, so that All can see the Results,, whether you voted or not.

What's Amazing is that just as many SS Folks want a Walnut Stock as The Blued Gun Folks do!!!!

What else is amazing is that only ONE wanted a Plastic Stock.

Marlington,, can you see this Poll??? Take Your Dark Shade's Off,, so's you can see What Most of us Want.

OverWhelmingly,, We Prefer Walnut to Plastic for Gun Stocks.

It's Take's a Man to Admit a Mistake,, so just Confess Up,, admit it,, and Get Those Plastic Stock Off,, and The Walnut Stocks on,, or at least give us the Option.

Again thanks to Everyone for Voteing,, and The Poll tells the Tale,
Joe :)

336SS, while I like what you've got on the poll, more people might vote if you changed it to something like this:

1. While I believe synthetic has its place, I prefer walnut
2. While I believe walnut has its place, I prefer synthetic
3. Walnut all the way
4. Synthetic all the way

My vote would be for #1. Just an idea, you don't have to redo your poll if you don't want to.

Personally, I'd like to see other wood options like laminate or birch.

XL7,

We want Marlington to see this Poll as it is ongoing.

I would like to give the Option to voter more than once,, but I didn't see that option when setting the poll up.

Mayby GJ or one of the other Officer's can Edit to offer the Maximum # of Vote's by those wishing to participate. I've heard that the Max # is 5,, but whatever it is, is Fine with me.

Joe :)
I know what you mean, it's just that Marlington, I mean Remlin, sorry, Marlin, will be kinda puzzled by the results because there's still the option for the XT-22s. Not that I don't want a walnut-stocked XT-22, I do, but this has sort of morphed into a 'what stock materials do you like' poll.

XL7,

I'm with you Man,, so Maybe GJ can make the changes so that you and other's can vote as many time's as you wish.

If you think Marlington might be puzzled,, well I can tell you that I and Most of us that are trying to Purchase a Marlin,, are Completely BeFuddled. We tell them that we want Wood,, and They Give Us Cheap Tacky Plastic,, and all the While telling us that's What We Want!!!

Forgot about that... ;D Mind if I post a link to this on RFC and a few other forums? The more votes the better.
