I've always been a cigar guy.
Looking hard into a pipe...
Any suggestions for a guy who's clueless on all this?
Start out with a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe with a straight stem (either the Diplomat 5th Avenue, or their Mark Twain model), and a good ribbon cut pipe tobacco. Thousands of people start with the Lane 1Q aromatic tobacco, but since you've already a cigar smoker, I'd recommend a non-aromatic blend like MacBaren Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed. You will also need BJ Long's regular pipe cleaners, and a Czech Pipe Tool.

Watch YouTube videos on "how to pack a tobacco pipe", and "how to smoke a tobacco pipe".

How is that Boswells treating you? Considering picking one up.
I have a few Boswell pipes. They all smoke great. They post new pipes every Monday on their website at 8pm EST.

Thanks!
My favorite smoke for years has been the Tatiana cherry or tropical flavor.
Any idea on a pipe tobacco that's close to that?
These are 80.00 a box and a box don't last me long...
I'm starting to think a pipe would be cheaper to smoke for me...

Is it like a sweet flavor or more like a plain maduro?
To be totally honest with you I don't know that any pipe tobacco can compare to a cigar. You don't have the leaf, thus you are taking out a certain element of the taste you get from a cigar. Lane 1Q is an aromatic though, so it will be sweeter.

Buy a tin of Cult Blood Red Moon tobacco for cherry tobacco. For a tropical blend, go with Peterson Nutty Cut or Connoisseur's Choice.

I'm going to have lots to post here but I'll start with some eye candy.

My Teddy Knudsen Eagle Grade (restored by Anthony Cook of Cook's Fine Pipe Works):

My Larsen Pearl Grade (also restored by Anthony Cook):

Both pipes are on Pipedia thanks to Anthony.

Post a picture anyway. I even smoke corncob pipes (one of the best smoking pipes you can get...especially with burley blends).
