The local Pawn-Gunshop had this on their rack for a good price. It is Walnut ,blued.A customer of his brought it in.He had won it at a DU Banquet and sold it for cash.Rifle was never used(Not a mark on it anywhere). It did not have the Mount on it for scope rings.Does anyone know what company makes them for this rifle???? I am anxious to try it out. Thanks OB

Try Leupold STD Winchester M70 bases. They look great on X7s.

Congrats on the nice find--how much was it?
Lets see a pic of it.
Any Model 70 2 piece base will fit. I prefer a weaver style to the Leupold. they are much stronger and cost 50% less. Warne, Millet, Weaver, all make excellent rings and bases for the Marlin "X" guns.
Congrats on the new Marlin. In my opinion it would be worth it to look at the DNZ one piece mount/rings. The fit and finish is awesome and there is less hardware that can shoot loose. Just my .02. Good luck and enjoy your new Marlin.

He had it for $349.00.It actually has a nice piece of wood.I have some Leupold Mo.70 bases & rings so it looks like I am good to go.Thanks for the help.
You can use any winchester long action scope base of your choice.
$350!??!?????!??! My XL7 with a synthetic stock cost $330!!!!!!

BTW, unless you plan on removing the scope a lot, forget Weaver-style rings. Leupold and DNZ mounts are much nicer. Of course, I'm a biased kind of guy. ;D

EDIT: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! If you see scope bases that say 'for post-08 Winchester Model 70s' or '8-40 screws', DO NOT BUY THEM!!! The X7 uses pre-08 Winchester bases--I think they're either 6-40 or 6-48 threaded.
With word on this forum of older lots of "JM" barrelled Marlins, I stopped in to Dick's yesterday. Not expecting anything but hoping. Got to the wall of glory, looked at a H&R Pardner and brought up the subject of Marlins, and nada. Rep said he hadn't seen any at that location but said he had sold a bunch in the Raliegh/Cary area. I walked out empty handed and a little broken hearted.

Very nice wood and it looks like decent checkering too.
Nice!
OLBIKER, you made a smoking deal on a great rifle. Looks really nice.
Well done, sir.
Hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while!!!! ;D
Hey CANCON - I have 6 Dick's stores within 30 mile circle of my house in Apex, NC including 3 of the Raleigh stores. I have not looked at any XL's but since I have not been in that market but first chance I get I will look and see what they have and how much. Another thread here called "WHAT A RIP OFF" was just discussing higher prices on XL's.

From what I've gathered, it sounds like the big box stores may no longer be on the X series marketing list. Instead they'll be sold at firearm dealers. Maybe somebody can confirm or discredit this. I hope it gets discredited.

Sorry bud but's that's old news. Try Bass Pro, Cabelas, Walmart and see if you can get a "X". If you do find one it's old inventory, they all say the same can't order them anymore! Gander Mtn still gets them somehow though and I've heard of Dicks ordering them but my local Dicks quit carrying them. I bought the last one on clearance for $224.00 that's cheap right there!
Very nice looking stock - good pick up.

GolfBuddy, pm me and let me know what you find. I'm in the New Bern area and would make the drive if the gun and price was right.
Beautiful rifle at a great price! Nice chambering too ;D .DT
