Well, I tried the Williams FP? Too much BS for me. After wasting ammo at 100, backed up to 50, removed peep, dialed in to the 2" circle with buckhorns and let it be. Guess I go back to a low x scope for a 100 shot.
Let us know how it works! I have heard good things about the tang sights.AINT NO FISH said:I'm going to try a Marbles tang peep sight on my 94 CB with 24" barrel oron my 94 CB with the 20" barrel. I'm hoping to get more distance out of it that I don't think a Skinner will do, by design alone.
Put the peep back on now that you are sighted in & use the buckhorns to kinda bore sight the peep. Skinner sights are very good but the Williams is very easy to adjust & fine tune.texjam said:Well, I tried the Williams FP? Too much BS for me. I dont think your weird. I like any side mounted peep MUCH better than a top mount, and for ME the Williams is about perfect. I'm not sure how many I have but every non scoped Marlin I have thats D&T on the side wears one. Not a one needs a taller front sight either. My favorite 30/30 did need a higher front but its scoped now.44-40 Willy said:Maybe I'm wierd or something, but I'd much rather have the Williams peep than a Skinner myself. Thinking about putting one on Mrs Willy's 1894C to replace a half junk scope that's on it.
The only peep sight I've got installed is a Marbles tang on my Rossi 62 octagon pump 22 rifle. It was already very accurate with the factory rear sight, but with the Marbles tang, it's a tack driver.
I cant see a 2" circle at 100 yards. But I can hit the center of a bullseye I can see, and on a good day when Gods on my side I can shoot a 2" group. IMHO a peep is always better than open sights. If you can only see well enough for 50 yard shots with open sights you should shoot better at that yardage than with open sights. I bet once you got accustomed to useing them you might feel confident at 100 yards.texjam said:I just want you guys to tell me you can hit the 2 "circle at a 100 with a peep. I watched a guy bout half blind hit the circle at 100 with a Brit Enfield. I may try again, but have no confidence right now. lol
Is it different with open sights?eaglesnest said:One thing I have noticed that has an effect on my abilities with a peep is my progressive lens glasses. Sitting at a bench I have to pull my head back in order to focus on the front sight. When standing it is much easier to focus. YMMV.
No, same deal, it is how the lenses are made, and what spot I have to look to focus 30" out because the correction changes where you look through the glasses on progressive lenses. When seated at a bench I have to hold my head back considerably in order to find the sweet spot on the lens that lets me focus the front bead. When standing it is much easier to find the right spot to see the sight, for me anyway..Leverdude said:Is it different with open sights?
