I just got a mint Marlin 1894 CCL 45 Colt.
It is a Cowboy Carbine Limited.
I didn't know anything about the CCL vs CL until today. Apparently Marlin made about 1,000 of the CCL exclusively for Davidson. Since there are a rather small amount of these I need some help determining a real world value. I traded a $550 SKS for it so I won't be hurt if it isn't worth more. I like it because of the gun it is not the collectivity.
Thanks

You got the better end of that deal.
I am not very familiar with that particular rifle caliber, but any JM stamped Marlin is bringing premium prices, at the present time. Even basic 336s in 30-30 are bringing $700 to $800 when one comes up for sale.

Davidson models are generally very desirable among Marlin collectors. They tend to value at about 25-40% higher than standard models regardless of any inflation effect. Considering most Davidson models tend have an "instant cellectability" associated with them, they are generally well maintained and have very few rounds fired through them placing them at the higher end of value spectrum. Hope this helps, enjoy your new acquisition!
