?? on Glenfield M30 "Golden 50"

Hello folks, I most generally hang out over on the rimfire board but have a question(s) and thought someone here might help. A friend has a Glenfield Model 30 in 30-30 Win and wants to find out a little about it. It has been well used with some dings & scratches in the wood and considerable blue loss especially on the sharp edges/angles. Hardwood stock has what appears to be impressed checkering/design on both pistol grip & forearm, otherwise appears to be a standard M30. It has a deep rollmark on the barrel just ahead of the Marlin stamping that reads "Golden 50" in script rather than block letters. Haven't been able to find anything about this in my admittedly limited library resources. Would appreciate any info about the Golden 50. Thanks.

PM Marlinman 93.. He posted this on other site I searched for the info...

Marlinman 93...

The Glenfield model 30 was made from 1966-72. It was the same action as the Marlin 336 line of guns, but it had birch stocks. The "Golden 50" was a name put on many Marlins in 1972 indicating the 50th anniversary of the present owners, the Kenna family. Nothing special about the Golden 50 that would add to the value of a Glenfield model, or any other Marlin with that marking.
Glenfields were a subsidiary of Marlin, that simply sold guns to discount stores at volume prices. The line was dropped by Marlin, because they found no profitable reason to sell their guns under the Glenfield name.
Glenfields generally get prices slightly lower than similar Marlin models, because of the birch stock, although they are of equal quality in all other ways. Your friend's gun should sell in the $125-$150 range.

Thanks GJ. Don't think he wants to sell, I believe he sorta inherited it  and is just interested in learning a little more about it.
