Enjoy it!!!!! Congrats, I would love to have one, and still regret not sending off for one when I went through the CMP qualifying with one many years ago... :shot:

Now What? Now What? Seriously?

Now, you start tracking down all the IMR-4895, H-4895, IMR-4064 you can get your hands on. Now you start scrounging for en-bloc clips, cases, and bullets you can muster. Then you start reloading, while simultaneously gathering up additional cleaning supplies - - patches, jags, solvent, etc.

Then you can really start enjoying your newest, bestest little buddy.

Only thing better than a day shooting a Garand, is a day shooting one with someone new to the rifle. That first 'ding' gets 'em hooked.

Be careful as they tend to multiply at your wallets expense. :)

And since you asked what's next. The only logical answer is a Thompson of some flavor!

Now all you have to do is get it out of layaway prison and shoot the hell out of it. I picked up 200rds of M2 Ball when I got mine from the CMP ($98/200rd then), sadly it's all gone and I have to scrounge up some supplies to load for it. Really I just need bullets and have meaning to order them, I think you just kicked my butt into gear to do just that.

The CMP store bought, or Greek surpus is the only made ammo my M1 will shoot.

Make dang sure any ammo you buy is at 2710fps or less. I load mine to 2660fps.

As close to M2 ball as one needs to be:

150gr bullet
48-50gr IMR4895
CCI #34 primers
LC cases

Mine is not your Grand Dad's M1 Garand
