Brought home a nice old Marlin 336 with F-prefix four-digit serial number and a perfect bore. Outside shows some honest use, but inside all is well. Now to mount a peep and get to the range.

As I read this I say to myself (a la Homer Simpson), "Ummm... 1949 336!"

Give us details!

Sorry guys -- it's a .30-30 SC model with three-quarter magazine and pistol grip butt. Front sight says Brownells Germany on it. Haven't seen that before. Is it original?

Yours sounds like the very twin of my "F" SC .30-30, except for the front sight. Sounds like that may be a replacement. I replaced mine with a higher Marble's front when I put on a vintage Lyman receiver sight. Very sweet rifle!
