OH WOE IS ME ! ! IT"S TWINS!
You may have read several posts that I have made over the last several months about how badly I was looking for a 1894CSS in .357. I went to numerous gun shows, I searched numerous gun and pawn shops but the boogers are just not around. After a couple months my gun shop said there was a new one available and ordered it. I was so exited when they called and said it had arrived. I drove out there (bout 30 minutes in another town) only to find it was the Blued CS .357 with the long octagon barrel! Beautiful gun but almost $900 and it just was not what I wanted! So the owner said he would keep lookin "but those babies are hard to come by". He had no trouble sell ing rifle in 2 days after he put it on the rack. Well after some moaning and groaning about my woes here on MO I received a private message with an offer to buy a brand new 1894CSS in .357. We talked and I sent him the money and he shipped me the gun.
Now here is the BAAAAD PART . . . . . Couple days later my gun shop calls - you guessed it, "Your CSS has arrived." Seems the distributor has a stash and he is doling them out here and there to preferred dealers. So I went out to the shop and took some pictures, posted them in a new thread about DOT ETCHED SERIAL NUMBERS and being real Marlins after all.
NOW I REALLY HAVE A DILEMA!
The CSS arrives and it is gorgeous. I carry her along with me to the shop to pick up her sister and brought the two home. How am I going to feed these TWO BABIES?!?!?! Scope one and not the other might help identify whic is which. Play with both of them though - gotta spread the love you know . .. and just like that the family went from 3 Marlin Levers to FIVE Marlin Levers - - and they are all PURE BLOOD NORTH HAVEN BABIES!!!!!!!!
Don't crowd to close now - but please welcome the new kids - - - - -
