Even if I'm not in the market to buy anything at the time, I will still fondle one of the Ruger-made Marlins at my LGS just to satisfy my curiosity that they got the new product rollout better than Remington did.
Does anybody know definitively about the process? Does the mandrel include the chamber? Is the chamber formed with the rifling? It would be in perfect alignment that way, no chance for off-center, tilt, or misalignment.
Rob, for a definitive answer we'd need to contact Ruger. I tried to research the answer, no luck. I watched the barrel making video again which at the very end states the barrel is ready for machining at the next Ruger facility. Therefore, I suspect Ruger machines the chamber to their barrels. Otherwise, it would be a two piece barrel which we know isn't the case. Or, the mandrel contains the chamber as well? I can't imagine that though.
Of course, this isn't a conclusive answer so I may contact Ruger to attain an answer.
Ive got a 1894 stainless 44 mag and a 1895GS 45/70 but I'm ready to buy something. Like a 444 stainless. I'm excited and have been saving savings and saving for 2 More Ruger Marlins. Can't wait.
