Plumb brand is/was? one of the best as far as what you could get from a hardware store. I have my dad's old double bit plumb axe. Must be 60 years old. Left my Plumb framing axe behind on a camping trip. We were throwing it and stickling it in a tree.
Is that the original handle? Real nice job on the refurbish.

Yes original handle,it was painted red I lightly sanded the paint off with fine sand paper and had some old homemade stock stain I picked up years ago at a big muzzleloader show here in PA.

Beautiful piece of family history. I believe you should be very proud of it. If that were my family artifact, I would even consider putting in a place of prominence in my home office. Additionally, the edge guard puts a very nice finishing touch on the project.
