Just bought a "Tanker" Garand off a fellow, rebarreled/converted to .308. I do not know who did the job, but is very professionally done. Stock looks to be older, but in great shape. I wanted a trunk gun that would stop another vehicle, as my M1 Carbine won't,ha. I haven't had it to the range yet, in meantime I have ordered one of those adjustable gas plugs from Brownell's. I want to shoot hunting loads/and surplus w/o beating up my receiver. Wil post a pic after range time.
Anyone else have a Mini G or shorty M1?

The horror, The horror

I got nuttin good to say about butchering a Garand.
Carbines kilt a lot of folks during WWII.
AKS with a big fat clip & a folding stock would do you.

Pard: I didn't chop it, but I'm sure gonna shoot it,ha! It's less "scary" to John Q. Public than an AK, better round too. I use Corbon DPX in my Carbine, but I would rather have a 308 as a standoff round i.e. stranded on the highway somewhere in bumsizzle Utah can be hazardous to your health...too many illegals anymore, looking for easy pickins.
Tman: no pics yet, gonna wait until I get it to the range.
Shuffs Parkerizing in MI really chops them down, to 16.25", no forward handguard. He can rebarrel them to 35 whelen too. There is a few clips of the "mini g" on Youtube.
I have had several standard M1's through the years, and a few M1A's, So looking forward to seeing what this thing will do.

Got my "Shuster Adjustable Gas Plug" today from Brownell's. I am gonna wait until I get plenty of time at the range before I put it in and set it. The rifle works right now, which is fine if the world turns upside down anytime soon,ha.
I had my first new Springfield M1 glass bedded and tuned with a homemade adjustable gas plug. I forget his name, but it was an older gent in Virginia who did the work. I gave it to me SIL as a wedding gift ( among many, he is a fine fellow, Gny Sgt, marine)
