You guys may know I have been hunting for a 444P for a while now....

Well today was awesome!
Took my boys to basketball camp this morning.
my youngest boy went home with a friend to hang out... that left mom at work and Dad alone with my oldest boy.

I took him to lunch and asked him what he wanted to do for the rest of the day... he said movies in prescott...

So we hopped in the Jeep and drove to Prescott. (45 minutes)

We watched the African Cats movie.... what an awesome time.

On the way back we stopped in to the gun shop to pick up some Zombie targets (My kids love em) and have a peak at anything new. (I was there last week)

low and behold they got 2 444's in! Just 2 days ago he said! One was a 444 regular rifle, and this 444P with a peep sight. Cost $460
Price tag read used.... but whomever owned it sure didn't "USE" it like I will.... not even a ding or scratch anywhere.... I'd guess 10 shells thru it max...

I grabbed it and walked to the counter.... and smiled as I paid the man...

and without further adieu.... PORN! best I can do with my cell phone... better pics tomorrow or so..

Nice wood/blueing Grandpa! You done good! You got nice XO sights to boot! See, now aren't you glad you didn't buy some regular rifle and try to make it a 444P? You better let that boy shoot it first, he has been waiting all this time.... ;D

Sweet! Make sure the boy knows it's Dads before you let him shoot it. ;) Mine has lots of use and shows some of it, kinda like me. ::) Enjoy the new P, the ports DO make a difference on the 444, mine also wears a Decelerator pad, she's a pussycat, fer sure. :-* DP

Thank you sir, I'm not a fan of ported barrels either, but I just couldn't let this one go......

Any ideas how I can tell when this was made?
my usual venues and websites aren't giving me any info....
serial # 0105017XX

I am guessing it was made in 01.....from a website I just found.

Welcome to the 444P club! Good deal too! Mine is about 3 months old (to me) now. Very accurate with Leverevolution, just got a box of Superformance to try out.

Got it out for some ammo today, she shoots very well! Love the weight and balance of it.... so similar to my 450M GG

Not too in love with the peep sight though.
Going to need some adjustment or a swap.

I believe an 01xxxxx serial number was made in 1999.

If it was made in 2001 the serial number would read 99xxxxx.

That is correct, that rifle was made in 1999.

I am not in love with this peep so far.
Shoots way too high.
I adjusted it as low as it would go.... not enough.
So I ended up taking the screw-in aperture out and then screwing the ghost ring down further... that may just do the trick.
More to come as I'll shoot her again camping tomorrow thru sat.
