Hey Mccurter, I had the same thing happen to me om my 7mm-08 xs7. what I did was take off the trigger guard then find a washer to fit the tang screw. I my have used a lock washer I dont remember. then drill out the trigger guard so the screw and washer will go right threw it. then put the guard back on with the small screw in the front with some crazy glue on it. be careful not to strip out this small screw. then replace the tang bolt and tighten it. this way you have no plastic being compressed and squeezed out to change the tightness of the tang screw. the front screw is more than enough to hold the guard on. I think Marlin could do better on this problem.
