New Toy

The UPS truck showed up today with my new toy. I bought it as a present to myself at Christmas and sent it straight to Brockmans to have a little work done to it. I always wanted a pistol grip guide gun, so I had the barrel cut and re-crowned, had them slick up the action really nice and had it bead blasted for the matte finish. I already had the scope and mounts waiting for it so those got mounted tonight without hesitation. Talley extra low mounts and a Leupy fx-II 2.5x scope. Oh, it's a 2008 xlr in .35 rem. I can't wait to shoot it! ;D

Re: My New Toy

Lookin very good! Every time I see one of these short XLR's, it brings me closer to sending my 336 XLR to JES and getting back a short 38-55. Maybe when I get my XS7 back. DP
Re: My New Toy

That is a really nice set up you have there.
Re: My New Toy

Nice! What is the barrel length? How long was the turn around time at Brockmans?
Re: My New Toy

I really LIKE that!!! ..my favorite Marlins have always been the Sporting Carbines and to have one like yours in that caliber and all-weather to boot is the ultimate woods gun....take good care of it and shoot it well and often!!
Re: My New Toy

Very nice!
Re: My New Toy

Very nice rifle and scope! Congratulations !
Re: My New Toy

Very nice looking rifle. I like the matte black scope & bases on the stainless. I have an XLR I was going to mount a silver scope on it, but after seeing yours I'll be mounting blackon it. You get a lot more options with black over silver scopes.

YoYo,

I've been wanting something like that myself for quite sometime!!!

Barrel length is 18.5" and it took about three months for Brockmans to do the work. Some might think that's a little long, but I wasn't in any rush for it. The pictures really don't do it justice. The matte finish on the rifle is awesome, it came out far better than I anticipated.
Nice. I have a XLR in .30-30 shortened and a 336 LTD in .35. Handle like a dream. You done good. ;)
I just got home from shooting it for the first time. I love this rifle! It has automatically become my favorite rifle that I own. I put about forty rounds down the tube today and got the scope dialed in. It seems to really like the rounds I load for my old 336c so I won't have to change or work up anything new for it. On the other hand, I also shot my LTD III for the first time in quite a while and it looks like I can't really shoot open sights anymore :(. Looks like I'll have to scope it in very near future, so that sucks. But the new rifle is absolutely awesome!
That bead blasted finish looks really good. The stock stainless is just too shiny for my tastes, and yours looks just right to me.
That is one slick rifle! I really like the scope set-up.
