Gents: You may have seen this 38-55 on GB in Dec. The receiver was re-blued, had 4 extra holes on top of the receiver for a scope mount, & may have been re-stocked. Maybe that's why there was only one other bidder. Made in 1906 (351xxx), I bagged it for around $770. I didn't want it for a collectible, only as a shooter. First thing I did was slug the barrel & found a .375 groove diameter. I got lucky! The last one of these I owned (25 yrs. ago) had a .381 groove. Also lucky in that the barrel looks like it had never been mounted on a gun until recently. Mint bore! No wear to the octagonal edges. I have a SAECO 255gr EIGHT CAVITY mould I plan to use for long range shooting. I'm having a spirit level windage adj. front sight & a vernier (ladder) tang sight mounted on the gun. Will soon learn (hopefully) how to post photos.
My best to all of you members that you may also get lucky in your gun purchases!

Levergunz & DPE: Thank you for your kind replies. Been reading here for a few months. Now will have something to post about as time goes on (e.g. load tests, chronograph & accuracy results, photos, etc.).
