Hello :

I am new to the group. I have an old Marlin lever action rifle with a serial number 30111 and am led to believe it was manufactured in 1890, but i know nothing about the model and caliber and am hoping to get information on this, but have no idea where to start. Any advice would be much appreciated..

When you check the Marlin serial number data base, you get the 1890 manufacture date for your serial number 30111. There can be some other possibilities for your Marlin but we do need pictures to see what might be going on. It probably is an 1890 rifle but it may have been altered or changed over the years. I have a few 1890 Marlins that have had stock changes and barrel changes. They are still nice ones in my collection and shoot well. We're anxious to see pictures of yours. Welcome!
