Contemplating using this ugly stick to build a custom stock for my second variation model 36, need help deciding what shape to make the forend, I know it will not be the pregnant style one, it will either be the straight style like a 1893,or a slight swell like a first variation 36.

That "ugly stick" (as you described it) has some beautiful grain AND curl in it! From what species of tree did that lumber come? As others have requested, keep us posted with progress reports.

Strugl4xsc, I carry a special place in my heart for highly figured wood on firearms. My prediction is this will be a great thread. Please don't keep us waiting too long, as I am very excited about your project.

I appreciate your interest, but I am sloooowwww, still haven't finished the checkering on the 1892 yet. The BSA is coming along nicely though.
