I bought a Henry Model H001 today with nice wood at the Sportsman's Warehouse. The really nice employee saw that I was serious about buying one if I found one with pretty decent wood. He got out four rifles from the back room after I passed on the ones in the rack. He brought out the H001 that SW received three days earlier and it is a nice one. Pictures to follow ... probably tomorrow. This rifle's action is as smooth as warm butter.

I bought my son a new Henry Model H001L about 5-6 years ago and he just loves it. He has quite a few nice bolt rifles, shotguns, and lever actions and says his Henry is still one of his favorites.

I haven't been feeling well lately, but I finally took a few pictures of my Henry H001 .22 I just bought a week ago. I hope to take it out and run a lot of rounds through it this weekend.

Congratulations, bjm. I picked up one a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be more pleased. Glad that you like yours.

I am amazed at the accuracy of my little H001. That rifle is really a shooter and like bigjeepman, the action is as slick and smooth as any lever I have ever used. Been like that since I brought it home new.

Re: New Henry in the house ...

Really do like my Henry Frontier 22 as well. I have put near 1000 rounds through it without one jam or misfire. Of course I can say the same with my Marlins, both wonderful guns too! The one thing that made Marlins always a bit more dear to me was their longevity and amazing history, at least till 2010 anyway. Now I would just as soon go buy a new Henry .357 than a new 1894 Remlin as there is no history with Marlin in NY, just a lot of mistakes so far but they both at least are made in the USA so its all good that way.. :)

Congrats on the new Henry.I had never owned a 22 lever until two years ago.I went to Dicks Sporting goods and pulled one off the rack.It was excellent in both the wood and metal.I bought it on the spot and never looked back.Fit,function and accuracy are excellent. It was the basic H001 model.Cant beat the price either.I paid $269 +Tax.I still am amazed at how nice the wood is on this basic model.Good shootin!!

Yep get that barrel hot and dirty as soon as possible. I see a little Roe coming out of you in them pics, very nice I like 'em!! .DT
I really appreciate the compliment. In all honesty, Roe is the Ansel Adams of the gun world and I am the "Dufus" from the West. I didn't take my time with the pictures but the Henry is nice as you know ;).

I don't but I have half an eye out for one. I would prefer a 357 in an 1894 with a JM stamped barrel but I don't want to order a used one sight unseen. A few things about Henry pistol caliber guns is they are heavier than the 1894 for one, and they lack a loading gate. I don't mind the added heft of the brass receiver, but always preferred the gate, but I think I am getting past that. It is possible that they will come out with a lighter weight all steel version sometime like they have with their 30-30.
