Just bought my first Marlin, 336 in 30-30. Stated to be a 1 owner gun, seller said his dad bought it when seller was 7 or 8, he’s 80 now. Trying to verify with serial # B385XX. I paid $450.
Most serial number threads start at CXXXXX tagged as 1946.
Any knowledgeable gurus?

Well it’s a learning moment. The serial number is likely “E” not “B”; which is a 1948 production which is in fact the 1st year of production of the model 336.
