I just picked up 336RC 30-30 from a guy I work with, from the serial number I think it was made in 1966. It has a scope with see thru mounts, and a sling. it appears to be good to very good condition, the action works nicely, and the wood is very nice, not sure if it it's walnut. Do you all think it was worth 300 dollars

Absolutely sure. You will have to shoot it with the see thru mounts but to most folks on the forum they are a no-no. Low rings give you a better cheek weld and to me look better than the see thru's. You may like them so since its your gun you can do what you want. Congrats.

If the first 2 letters in the front of the Serial Number are AB, it is a '66.

Also, if original, the wood is Walnut.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal there.
