Today I saw a 30-30 that had the serial number on the side of the recever it was a 91 series but had JM on the barrel, it just said 336 30-30 and it had a birch stock for $349.00. they also had a 45-70 with the same serial number on the receiver but it was walnut $599.00 marked down to $549.00 and both looked good, the metal and wood looked good as I looked them over very good. Already have a 30-30 RC so I was thinking about getting the 45-70 but not sure I want a 91 series. Dennis

Easy fix. Buy a used rifle for $300.

If the 45-70 looks good to you and the price is acceptable, go ahead and get it. They are only going to get higher in cost and you are the only one that you have to please. I have the 45-70 1985 CB with the 26" barrel and enjoy owning it. Fun to reload for.
