New 1895G in the stable

Just picked up a pre-owned but unfired Marlin 1895G in 45-70 the other day. Gun is like brand new and still had the Marlin hang-tag on it. I paid $450 for it. Any info or suggestions for this model would be appreciated. Gonna order a set of Skinner sights for it and use it for hogs here in Texas.

You're gonna love it!!!

Congradulations! It's kinda like a motorcycle as theres so many ways to change it's looks, sights and scope set ups. Heck you can even buy leather for it! Enjoy!
Hey! I got one yesterday also..........But I paid $450 for a used (but like new) one.

Need some help down in Texas with those hogs?

rbertalotto,

That's a sharp looking gg you picked up!!! 8)
Nice wood and looks like a premium pachmayr pad on there also!!!

It compliments your collection very well! ;)
Glad to hear that a fellow Texan has added this fine weapon to his home. It is my firm belief that the GG is one of the most accruate weapons built on the levergun platform. I've had only a few boltguns that could rival how well the GG shoots. You will enjoy that little cannon I'm sure.

I live a bit south from you and work in the country. We shoot the hogs on the property I work, and never have I had a better hog gun!! It points, loads, and shoots fast and on the money. Never needed a followup shot with the 45-70, but this gives me the chance to shoot more than one now!

Again, glad your have this great weapon!

And tell us how that bad boy shoots. 8)
You are in a group of people who have made good choices. Long live your GG.
TX50,
These are great rifles. After your sights and a good sling, get your reloading bench set up for this fine caliber.
You are going to love taking that afield. Lightweight, howitzer-like impact, accurate, lightening quick on target....you just cant beat the "G". Guide guns rule with woods.

The gun at the bottom is exactly like mine. I love it! ;D
