I recently bought a new to me 1894c. If it had been fired before I got it, I couldn't tell...and it had the JM proof on the barrel. I paid $400 for the carbine and $200 for the Leupold scope and mount. The previous owner had traded it into a local dealer the day before and told the FFL that the scope mounts "came with the gun from the factory". The only visable markings on the mount are numbers 12044 on the top flat portion below the scope tube. I really like this gun and other than replacing the cross bolt safety and trigger with a Wild West trigger, it will stay intact. I have another, older 1894c at the gunsmith for repairs and would like to put this kind of scope mount on the older carbine when it returns. If anyone knows where I can get this type of scope mount, please let me know...there is nothing like it in the current Marlin catalog.
