Was it someone on here that said that they didn't make a 1948 model 39A with a staight stock or do I have the wrong place and wrong information.

1953 was the first year of the Mountie, with a 24" barrel. 1954 they went with the 20" barrel. All had pistol grips prior to that.

Don't know if it was here, but I will go ahead and say it. Marlin didn't make a 1948 model 39A with a straight stock. Is this the same one you asked about a while back. Did you buy it or still kicking it around?

Yes, I just wanted to confirm the issue of the stock. I stopped by the pawn shop where it is and noticed it was still there. It wasn't really calling my name but still has my interest. I saw a butt and forearm set on ebay earlier this evening and it got me to thinking...what if I. Nah,I don't think I will go to all that trouble. I'll come across a nice one somewhere.

You'd also have to replace the lever or try to reshape it. I'd pass as we'll.
