I Have Just had some scope bases fitted to allow this 3x period scope to be fitted. There is no modification to the rifle so it can be put back to standard. I think this small scope suites this rifle. I can't wait to go hunting with it!
The scope is a winchester from about 1920. The mounts are a dovetail block made up for the receiver which screws into the standard fixings for the hepburn sight and the front is an extended rearward mount that slots into the standard rear sight barrel dovetail. These are gunsmith parts and not off the shelf , Though the prices to have these made are very reasonable.
