Like to say hello all, and great site.
I am a middle aged man from the near north Ontario, who is rather new to the gun scene.
I came in just as Remington bought Marlin.
Yesterday an acquaintance (now known as a friend:)) brought over a couple of rifles with ammo sling and semi hard gun case.
He was going to turn them into the OPP (God forbid! They already have enough guns!) and thought I might want to make an offer.
Now without the benefit of experience, I rely on reviews and not from companies or people who get paid for it, but rather customers who have bought a product and "youtubed" or joined a group like this. I figure if someone gave me a 50,000.00 ford to review of course it would be STELLAR...I want to review the next one too...
Anyway, buddy came with a two rifles, one being a Model 57 Marlin lever, the other a restocked, shortened, re-crowned 303 lee enfield with flip up distance sight.
I jumped at them made an offer, he left smiling, I went to the bush up the way to shoot my new rifles.
I've wanted to own a Marlin, but with all the QC problems....and getting a used one here your going to pay, I have actually talked to someone who just bought and was very happy with his new 1895. Am very glad to hear that.
Now I never owned a .22...or a lever action...My wife says I got out of the truck smiling...accurate fast and just fun!
The trigger needs work, wiggles from side to side, I shot 27 LR's from her without a hitch. (Outside of the giggling, can't help it, 30-06 and 303's in my collection so the "pop" makes me laugh).
Anyway, I've automechanic for 20 years, computer techie for the last five, done tons of contractual work and started my life of fun (cause if its fun or love of it ain't work!) putting in gas appliances(furnace water-heaters)....way back in the day!
I'll read here how to best get that wiggle out of my trigger....and yes I am still smiling!
All have a good day, stay safe and it is a pleasure to be here!
