A few years back I picked up a nice little lever action 30-30 at a local auction. Love the gun, it shoots great, has a nice feel, it is light to carry... Last weekend at deer camp someone asked me how old my gun was. I had no idea so I started searching the internet. I believe I have a real nice dear riffle! No it is no museum quality, but to my untrained eye it is in great condition for its age. Next I need to figure out what it is currently worth.

Welcome from the twin tiers of north central PA and south central NY.

The Marlin model 36 currently commands prices of $600 and up. I have seen several in very good condition sell for $1000 and up.

Thank you all for the responses, guess I did okay on this. I paid less than $200 for it.
You did a lot more than "okay!" You stole that rifle and someone is probably looking for you right now. You'd better let me have it so I can hide it for you!

By the way, welcome to MarlinOwners. Glad to have you with us!

Hello and Welcome to Marlinowners from Pennsylvania!! I think the model 1936 was made for two years (1936 and 1937(B) The model 36 was made between 1937 and 1947. Hope this helps!

There is not a prefix letter on the serial #, it is just 4994. Thank you for your post
