Now that I have a new center fire in .270 I finally got to go for a hunt, headed into some hills close by was more of a reccy mission and did not get to shoot at anything but did find some very likely spots, the rifle is not an X7 but I do still own a marlin .22

A very likely area for a stag to be lurking and some prime areas where a deer would love to get out and catch a bit of sun

NZ is on the bucket list for me! You will love the .270 mate. Fast and flat! I use my Sako .308 for stags normally however I am venturing up through the hills near Yarraman next week and I will be giving my 336 a run using LeverEvolution 160's.

Try walking up the stairs at Suncorp Stadium 100 times Gus. Them there hills can be kinda steep. You have to be a mountain goat at times.

I remember spending all day up and down hills chasing game, seems a long time ago. Now days I like to shoot out of the 'cruiser window. lol. Still like to walk, but on flat ground. Bloody deer can't taste that good, beef is easy to get and comes ready to cook. lol. Nice rifle GH,I never had a .270.

It aint that bad Gus I only stopped 3 times while climbing the hill.........alright I admit it I blew my ring gear a few times while heading up there but was worth it to see all of those clearings that were ideal areas to find a deer.
