my earliest 1893 rifle
Well here is an old "brown" 1893 octagon barrel 38-55 s/n 124457. This rifle has a bit of local history it was one of the rifles owned by "Schiff the gunman" a local Hermit who had a tremendous gun collection in North Woodstock N.H. he died back in the early 50's and most of his guns went up for sale in 1955 in Danvers mass ,he was suposedly born in a covered wagon on his way west ,and later was a Texas Ranger. i have one of the sale catalogs and it does make you drool !!! notice there is no glare off this rifle !! ;D Don
