I have a couple of questions for the experts out there. How many different varieties are there of the MR-7? Were there different stock materials? Different types of magazines (detachable "clips", hinged floorplate or blind magazines etc.)? How about available calibers? I have a real interest in picking one up for the collection but don't know very much about them and didn't see anything in the reference section concerning them. Any info or directions on where to look from you fellas would be appreciated.

YoYo ...

I am certainly no expert on the MR-7 as it seems specific details on production, etc is hard to come by. I have a MR-7 .270 that I bought in 2008 that probably now has less than 20 rounds through it. Members here have posted what they know about these nice rifles so if you just go back through all of the posts in this forum and read the MR-7 threads, you should be able to gather some details.

I know they were made in 30-06, .270, 25-06, .280, and I am unclear about other calibers. I think in the latter part of the 3 years of production for the MR-7's, there were plans to build them in .243 but that never happened. If you PM me your email address, I have some articles on the MR-7 I can forward to you.

They also produced the MR-7B. It doesn't have the detachable magazine or floor plate and has a birch stock. Still a great rifle, but with some subtle changes. Mine is in 30-06. I have all the other MR-7's in the various calibers mentioned. I'd love to have found one in .243, but they were never produced. (Unless someone has a lunchbox special out there somewhere)!
