I recently purchased a new Marlin Model 60 for my son's birthday. He probably has 50 rounds through it. After we returned home, I disassembled the rifle for cleaning and noticed a bend in the receiver. Has anyone else noticed a bend in their receiver?

New rifles give me the "willies", thats a new one to me, have not seen that on a Marlin in my fifty years shootin' Model 60's. How does the rifle function, if good it will probably last his lifetime.

Two things come to mind when seeing this picture. One is this rifle has had an out of battery discharge or two, someone pryed out a nasty jam.

update

The rifle is going back to Marlin. There never was a jam of any sort, and I purchased it new.
You can not see the bend when the receiver is re-attached to the wood stock, so I never noticed it when I purchased it.
