Searched thru here and found posts that said to take the first 2 numbers of the serial number and subtract it from 100 to get the date of production. My serial is 72XXXXXX. So that comes out to 28. Confused here now. Any suggestions or help?:hmmmm:

Not a good idea to post a complete serial number of your firearms, first two digits all you need.

Scroll down the site menu selections to the area called reference library or something like that, it has serial number info on various models etc. Marlin changed how they serialized their guns over the years, so depending on age the "100 subtraction" method may well not apply.

Thanks, appreciate it. How did you come up with that year. I looked in the reference portion of the forum and couldn't find anything.
