Let's just say that any deer within 100 yards is headed to the freezer.

Today was to decide if it liked 150 gr or 170 gr. I had the range to myself for a while and got a little better groups from the 150s - just under an inch at 50 yards with open sights.

Then a family arrived and Mom, Dad and their 10 year old son all were shooting. All very good. but I lost track of my groups at 100 yards. Seems both the 150s and 170s were shooting 3 to 4 inch groups but not sure which was which. Either way, bambi would go down.

Damn I had fun. And I was glad to see the family shooting together - teaching their young son safety and control. Just having fun.

So this fall this 70 year old gun will be looking for blood. I'm sure it has taken deer before it came to me but I intend to give it another oportunity.

Great story to hear. Now just get in some more practice with her and sounds like either bullet would work for hunting.
