Have mod.39 No prefix or suffix, ser#12---, has star on tang and ivory on sight front&rear. I grew up with this rifle and it was passed down to Me when my grandfather passed. Wonder if anyone could help me date it? I've used it as my rabbit and squirrel rifle since the early 60's, has been my favorite! Have always wanted to know old it was, never got to ask my grandfather. Thanks

Best guess would be mid to late 1920's, the exact date is tough to nail down as record keeping wasn't done very well.

Maybe try posting some pictures in the team 39 sticky thread, or reading the stickies on 39's.... You could post pictures in the marlin collectors thread, I'm sure somewhere, someone will know specific details to narrow down the YOM year of manufacture.
Oh and welcome to marlin owners!
