I just got a 1947 vintage model 36 that's in great shape, but the butt stock is a generic replacement. Does anyone got a pic of an original factory issue butt plate ? I checked Brophy's book , but can't tell which one is correct. Thanks.

Here you go!. This is actually my first year ('48, E-prefix) 336ADL. Marlin apparently was using up parts from 36 production, including levers. These butt plates are made of some sort of phenolic plastic and tend to chip, crack, and break fairly easily...

Hope this helps.

If you can't find the real thing Vintagegungrips.com has good reproductions. I installed one on a 47 vintage 36A another on a 1954 39A that had broken plates. You can tell they are not original so new and unmarked otherwise exact copies.
