I just got a 1947 vintage model 36 that's in great shape, but the butt stock is a generic replacement. Does anyone got a pic of an original factory issue butt plate ? I checked Brophy's book , but can't tell which one is correct. Thanks.

Measure your buttstock and figure the Marlin safety one. Maybe someone will post a pic then you can order from there.

Here is a sight that does vintage reproductions. http://www.vintagegungrips.net/mabu1.html

Check my post in response to yours in the collectors' section. Picture there of correct butt plate. No logo, just horizontal grooves
and period chips!

Thanks for the info Swany and Mike. That "Marlin Safety" one looks cool, even if it's not 100% correct.

Likely says the same thing on the top of your action.

I have a Model 36 made in 1947 also but the stock had 3 inches cut off it and the buttplate was not original.
