I recently bought a XT-22M, mag fed, 22WMR with the "synthetic" stock. I would like to replace it with a wood stock and I am having trouble finding one that is affordable. Boyds has them but I am looking for something less pricey. I found a used stock for the 980 and it seems that it would also fit the XT-22M. Midwest Gun Works offers a stock that they say fits the Marlin 925, 980, XT-22 and XT-22M (like the stock is compatible for all four) but it is out of stock. Can anyone verify if the 980 stock will fit the XT-22M before I make a mistake?

I have a like new hardwood stock from my XT-22M mag fed 22WMR. It was a brand new factory fresh take off. It has a butt plate but will need a trigger guard and sling swivel studs. Otherwise, it looks perfect and was never used.

If you are interested, you can send me a personal message and I will send a picture after my daughter shows me how again.

Hey Good Shooter, just a FYI for ya. I went with the 980 stock. The screw holes, mag hole, trigger hole all match up perfectly. I only had to Dremel out the trigger compartment a little to accommodate the trigger assembly. No big problem. I stripped the stock of the original factory finish and went back with a dark walnut stain and a matte polyurethane clear coat. Looks great. Thanks for the assistance. You're a good man.
